Rise Against Hunger

Rise Against Hunger is growing a global movement to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives and responding to emergencies. We work in remote, last mile communities within hunger pockets designated “serious” or higher by the Global Hunger Index. We partner with local leaders to harness the strengths of their communities and tackle their own food and nutrition security challenges. In 2022, Rise Against Hunger impacted the lives of over 4.4 million people in 38 countries.

the problem:

Enough food is produced worldwide to feed everyone on our planet, yet hunger still exists. Many factors contribute to the problem of hunger including poverty, climate change, food waste, gender inequality, and conflict.

Impact

Rise Against Hunger provides immediate nourishment for those in need today and implements sustainable solutions that put last mile communities on a path to self-reliance. To help individuals increase their access to food and income, we promote improvements in agricultural production and rural livelihoods. While long-term food security takes root, we provide nutritional meals in educational settings such as schools, vocational training programs and health clinics. We also meet critical food and aid needs for communities impacted by natural or man-made disasters. To create a global movement aligned to our mission, we engage hundreds of thousands of volunteers and advocates each year to build awareness and activation.
